About Us
Journey Church Hawaii (also known as “The Journey Church Hawaii MiniChurch Network) is a Jesus-loving, Bible-believing church that exists to equip people to DISCOVER, DEVELOP, LIVE, and SHARE God’s Abundant Life.
What is the Abundant Life? It is a Life of Righteousness (knowing, being and doing what is right), Peace (peace of Jesus is both positional and practical in light of living in an “anxious world”) and Joy (an anointing from Jesus that sets us apart; “permission to be happy”) experienced in Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We are convinced that as you and I live the Abundant Life, we will have an incredible and life-lasting impact on the people God has given us to love: our spouses, children, parents, extended family, co-workers, friends. Who are the People God has given you to love?
Our church started in a living room with a group of friends (2014) seeking to live the dream of God. As we invited others to join us, we began to grow, moving into a school in Kapolei (2015) and a second location in Honolulu (2018)…
In 2020, we became a network of MiniChurches (locally and globally) that faithfully meet each week primarily on ZOOM and also in-person. Each weekend we also meet in an intimate setting @The Studio at The Children’s House in Pearl City for Worship, Teaching of the Bible, and Fellowship, and continue to offer a livestream to those who prefer to watch from home.
At MiniChurch, its all about “Life on Life” — sharing with one another what the Lord is saying through His Word to us from our “Head, Heart and Hands.” Our goal is to make disciples that makes disciple and start MiniChurches that start MiniChurches. We believe that we grow best in a small group of people desiring to become like Christ and love on the people God has given them to love.

OUR LEADERSHIP
Pastor John Honold
Pastor John is a husband, father and grandfather. A local boy from Kailua and a 1979 graduate of St. Louis School Honolulu, he has an undergraduate degree [BSOE Christian Studies] from Wayland Baptist University and a graduate degree [MA Christian Ministry] from Pac Rim University.
John entered fulltime ministry in 1984. He has served as an Associate Pastor at Hope Chapel Kaneohe (Anchor Church); Founding and Senior Pastor of Hope Chapel Kapolei (Freedom Church) and Executive Pastor at One Love Ministries. He has equipped others to plant churches in Hawaii, Okinawa, the Philippines and Thailand. He serves as a coach and consultant to pastoral leaders here and abroad who have a heart-desire to make disciples that make disciples, and plant churches that plant churches.

Church Council
The Church Council includes the Senior Pastor and members of the congregation who oversee the finances and ensure the righteous stewardship of all our resources. Council Members responsibilities include: (1) accountability of Pastor towards our Statement of Purpose, Values, Vision and Ministry Methods [based on values]; (2) Establishment of a yearly operating budget; (3) the righteous stewardship of church finances; and (4) spiritual covering [prayer] of the church. Apostolic Elders
The Apostolic Elders are gifted in leadership and life-experience, embodying the character of 1 Timothy 3:1-7. They love Jesus Christ, know Pastor John really well, and are willing to provide mentoring, counsel, personal accountability and spiritual covering [prayer] to and for our Senior Pastor.
